Does your current space trigger painful memories? Do the walls feel soaked in the energy of the past and moments long gone that left a residue that zaps energy from today? From a joyful tomorrow?
I recently spent several weeks thoroughly evaluating every room's energy every time I walked in. Especially my creative spaces. To my disappointment every time I walked in I felt a sense of stress and heaviness. That's the opposite energy of BynBeary. Bynbeary is a hub for inspiration, creativity, and living a more free-spirited life. A simpler life. A slower life that feels spacious and in harmony with the surrounding environment.
The culprit? Too much stuff in plain sight. All the stuff cohabitating with me while I worked, made art, dreamed of goals and aspirations, was a subtle and invisible distraction hiding in plain sight. It slowly pulled me away from important work by pulling my thoughts from focus into unexplained stress about the million things left undone.
The solution? Here's a few space changes that have completely transformed the energy for the studio.
1. Moving 90% of the objects in the stressful room out of sight and only leaving the every day necessities. Or better yet, truly determining wether they're needed or if they can be let go. Once and for all.
2. Making a designated closet for all the small stuff that is not needed every single day. The key is to keep them neatly organized within the closet so everything is easy to find. Cubed shelves are a great option!
3. For creative work, only have 1-2 "works in progress" in plain sight. Preferably on a dedicated table or desk where they can live everyday until they are completed. Having these projects in sight all the time, and within easy access serves as a reminder every day.
4. Create a physical vision board or goals board with images and pretty pictures that "ignite" the feelings you want to be feeling right now. Forget the Ferrari pictures and think more about how you want to feel. Maybe you want to feel more connected, so include pictures of people you love or a candid photo of a favorite moment with friends. Do you aspire to have a more designed space that matches and feels cozy? Find pictures that "feel" cozy and well designed, and include them in your vision board.
5. Finally, consider keeping airflow in between furniture by keeping your floors free from clutter, piles of stuff, boxes, and garbage. Try to honor each object you have chosen to bring into your precious abode by giving it a designated place to live off the floor.
